Little superheroes showed off their pupil powers last week to demonstrate why their school is rated so highly.

Dr Tim Coulson, regional schools commissioner for east of England and north east London, visited Barclay Primary School in Leyton on Friday as pupils raised money for Children in Need by dressing as their favourite superhero.

Justin James, chief of Lion Academy Trust which runs the school, said “We were delighted to show Dr Coulson around one of our schools and share the progress being made at by all our schools.

“We believe that every child has the right to access outstanding education provision and are striving to provide the best possible education for all.

“We welcome his support for our plans to extend the Trust and to ensure that all schools locally work collaboratively to raise standards across the Borough.”

Lion Academy Trust currently sponsors two other schools withWaltham Forest - Thomas Gamuel Primary School and Sybourn Primary in Walthamstow.

Barclay Primary School is rated in the top two per cent of schools nationally for overall performance and in the top one percent for writing.

The Lion Academy Trust recently an application to open a secondary school in Walthamstow, which is set open in September 2016, if approved by the Department of Education.
