Heavy rain over the weekend led to flooding which trapped at least two cars this morning.
The vehicles were trapped on Stondon Road in Ongar, in water that was around one foot deep in parts.
The cars, which included a luxury Mercedes C-Class saloon, were trapped in flood water close to the River Roding, which had burst its banks.
Police attended the scene, but Essex Fire and Rescue Service were not present due to the high volume of calls relating to floods.
Water levels remain high further south on the Roding, with a flood alert in place for Abridge and high water levels in Loughton.
