An airport came under fresh criticism for a lack of consultation on its flight path changes at a public meeting this week.

London City Airport is planning to implement new technology to enable a much narrower and concentrated corridor over Wanstead, Leytonstone and Leyton.

The meeting, organised by Forest Residents' Association, took place on Monday evening at St Andrews Church, in Colworth Road, Leytonstone.

Campaigners believe this would create a “noise ghetto” for those living under the flight path and are calling for a fresh consultation into the plans.

They have received the backing of the London Assembly, Redbridge council, leading Waltham Forest councillors, and Leyton and Wanstead MP John Cryer.

City Airport has said throughout that it is following Civil Aviation Authority guidelines.

The current public consultation ends tomorrow.
