A funeral firm running since 1849 is due to open in a high street.

A&C Tadman Ltd will be opening its doors on Monday in the old florist shop, Blush Temples, in High Street, Wanstead.

As way of celebration, the firm will be donating a food hamper to seven care homes for Christmas in the area, with deliveries to take place on December 10.

The firm is an east London family-run business since the mid-19th century and has appeared in television shows including EastEnders, Holby City, Silent Witness and London’s Burning.

It also has branches in Stepney, Bethnal Green and Kings Langley.

Talking about the service the firm will provide in Wanstead, general manager, De McIrvine, said: “It is a privilege to stand in a sensitive position at a crucial time and know that the quality of our service and reputation will help families through this most difficult time.
