Rats, rubbish and blocks of rubble are spilling out onto the pavement from a squatted, derelict pub after a fire.

Make-shift beds, clothes, cans and human excrement litter the inside of the former Central Station pub in Brunner Road, Walthamstow.

Firefighters were called to tackle a third blaze at the derelict site last week, which was closed following a devastating fire in 2007.

The front wall was knocked down during the incident – revealing the shocking scenes inside.

During the blaze the inside was badly damaged and the cellar was filled with water.

However, around ten men continue to live inside.

George Pethers, co-owner of MNJ Motors opposite the pub, said the authorities seem disinterested with the site.

He said: “It was during the summer this year that I saw a flat screen TV being passed over the wall, so I called the police but they didn’t seem interested.

“Then we saw they were running makeshift electric cables into the telegraph pole. I called again and nobody seemed to care.

"I told them I am a retained firefighter and asked what would happen if a child stood on it and died. Then the electric board turned up.

Property firm Edward Symmons sold the building at auction in April 2012 for more than £300,000 - double the guide price. But the company will not reveal who bought it.
