A family whose home was "ransacked" suspect they were targeted by the same burglars who attempted to break into a Chingford property on Tuesday.

Burglars targeted the home in Inks Green, Chingford, at around 1pm on November 23, where they stole precious Asian gold jewellery, an engagement and wedding ring, designer handbags, an Apple Mac Pro, a Mercedes SL 500 convertable and a Volkswagen Golf.

The upstairs bedrooms were "turned upside down" with beds shoved on their side, draws pulled out and smashed, and personal belongings thrown across the room.

Their eldest daughter was looking after the house as her father Bob Alsam was abroad in Pakistan and his wife Ameena was with their second daughter in Florida.

The burglars gained entry by smashing the glass panel of the side-door and climbing through.

Keys to the cars were kept seperate underneath clothing in bedroom cabinets.

They were brought to the attention of neighbours after filling the driveway with smoke from the Mercedes as they struggled to find the handbrake.

Neighbours saw one of the burglars run into the forest with a laptop under his arm while the other two escaped in the sports car.

They returned the next night to steal the VW Golf parked further down the road.

The family contacted the Guardian after viewing the CCTV appeal of an attempted burglary in Templeton Avenue, Chingford, on Tuesday evening.

Mrs Islam, 57, said: "I suspect it was the same boys. The same week we were burgled, there were break-ins in Ainsle Wood Road and Ropers Avenue.

"They are going around this area and targeting our homes at all times of the day."

Mr Islam, 74, added: "I can not find the words to describe how I feel. This is a sick world we live in.

"The only consolation we have is that we are safe and no one was harmed."
