A teenager has been fined £200 for dropping a cigarette.
Jake Tappin, of Clavering Road in Wanstead, was seen by a Waltham Forest enforcement officer discarding the cigarette in Walthamstow town square in May.
Mr Tappin, 18, was approached by the officer and handed a fixed penalty notice of £80.
When the council did not receive a payment, the officer visited his home.
However, the fine remained unpaid and the matter was dealt with at Thames Magistrates Court on Friday.
The case was heard in Mr Tappin's absence.
A fine of £200 was imposed by the judge and a 2-day collection order was made.
This means, if no payment is received by the court, a further offence would have been committed.
