A pub has raised £14,000 for charity this year.
The team from The Bricklayers Arms, in Ongar Road, Stondon Massey, presented the a cheque of £6,750 to the Parachute Regiment Charity and Help for Heroes following a 75-mile trek re-tracing the steps of a historic route from Lommel in Belgium to Arnhem in Holland.
Since the cheque was presented at the Houses of Parliament, alongside local MP Eric Pickles, the team have raised a further £7,250, which is set to be donated to the same charities.
The team are now planning their next charity adventure, which will see them walk across the Falkland Islands in 2017, on 35th anniversary of the Falklands conflict.
Event organiser Gary Middlehurst said: “We know how difficult this year’s challenge was as civilians.
“Our Falklands adventure will be a real test of endurance when living rough for what is a very inhospitable environment even in summer.”
