A burst water main has flooded roads and is causing hazardous driving conditions.

Water was seen spraying from the damaged main under the pavement in Gordon Road, Chingford, this afternoon.

It has since spread under the grass area walkway which runs alongside Ranger's Road.

This has caused extensive flooding in the surrounding area.

Currently there is not an engineer on-site and the road remains open with traffic passing slowly.

A spokeswoman for Thames Water said: "An engineer will visit the area to investigate later this afternoon.

"We’re sorry for any disruption the water coming from the pipe is causing and we’ll do our best to fix it as quickly as we can.

"We’ve not had anyone report to us that their water supply is affected by the burst."

A second burst in Larkshall Road on Sunday is still being fixed.

A section of the road from New Road roundabout to the junction with Simmons Lane and Endlebury Road remains closed.

Thames Water confirmed the large hole was filled with concrete today but it will remain blocked off until the end of the week.
