Nearly every primary school in Waltham Forest is ranked above the government target for reading, writing and maths, league tables released today show.
Every school in the country has been assessed in core subjects to check on overall performance.
Children are testing on spelling, grammar, handwriting and numeracy.
Despite the proportion of pupils from disdavantaged backgrounds at some schools being as high as 80 per cent, Waltham Forest primary schools achieved an average of 81 per cent obtaining the required level four pass.
The average in England is 79 per cent.
Schools are now expected to ensure 65 per cent of pupils achieve level four or above in reading, writing, and maths, or satisfy separate pupil progress requirements.
Today’s tables, compiled by the Department of Education, show that only four schools in the borough fell below the target, two of which are for children with special needs.
Dawlish Primary School fell behind the target, with less than half of pupils achieving the required level.
The school in Jesse Road, Leyton, has 78 per cent of pupils who speak English as a second language.
Willow Brook Academy, in Church Road, Leyton, also fell below the target, with 64 per cent making sufficient progress.
A total of 60 per cent of pupils at the school are identified as coming from deprived backgrounds.
The highest achieving school was Whittingham Primary School, in Higham Hill Road, Walthamstow.
There all pupils passed the level four grade.
Newport School, in Newport Road, Leyton, is also performing well, with 99 per cent of pupils performing well in core subjects, despite 74 per cent being classified as disadvantaged.
