A mother and daughter have transformed an empty retail shop into a Christmas pop-up shop.

Pat Green from Oxford and 30-year-old daughter Naomi Green of Wood Street, Walthamstow, marked the launch of the pop-up shop in Old Church Road, Chingford, on Saturday.

As part of Waltham Forest council's campaign 'Love your high street', the Green family have temporarily taken over the empty space, formerly known as Bliss, with gifts sold by their company 'Celebrate'.

The online business whose motto is 'to give everyone a reason to celebrate', launched in July and sells cards, gifts, party supplies and collectable items for all occasions.

Daughter Ms Green said: "We’re doing this to test the water and get the word out.

"We offer unusual products, not seen on the high street and we have received a lot of positive feedback because of this.

"Customers kept returning just to listen to our reggae Christmas music as it’s not something many of them had heard before.

"It is about adding something new, edgy and interesting to Chingford."

Waltham Forest mayor councillor Terry Wheeler stopped by before rushing off to Wembley Arena to support Walthamstow's Fleur East in the X Factor final.

The biggest-selling items over the weekend were a turntable-style cat scratch, 3D cookie cutters and dog bow ties.

Celebrate will be replaced at the start of the new year by 'All you Read is Love', a bookshop and cafe but Ms Green has said there is a "definite possibility of opening a shop in Waltham Forest".

But this is likely to happen after they launch their brand inside Hallmark in Manford Way, Chigwell, in January.
