Shoppers in Waltham Forest have donated 18,000 meals to their most vulnerable neighbours in the run up to Christmas.
Over eight tonnes of canned, dried and long-life food have been donated at the four Tesco stores across Waltham Forest as part of the Tesco Neighbourhood Food Collection.
The supermarket also topped up donations by 30 per cent.
The nationwide initiative, now in its fifth year supplies hot meals and food parcels to those most in need.
All proceeds go to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust and food redistribution charity Fareshare.
The collection, which took place over six days, last week, raised a total of 268,868 meals in London.
