Dozens of elderly residents and those less fortunate at this time of year have received free hampers as part of a church initiative.
Broadmead Baptist Church in Chigwell Road, Woodford Bridge, has collected, packaged and delivered 25 food hampers to people across the borough who was nominated by charities and social groups.
Those who have benefited from the parcels which include boxes of chocolates, fruit, biscuits and tea include the elderly, mentally ill, single parents and anyone who has found 2014 to be a tough year.
Reverend Gareth Wilde said it the first time the church has organised a hamper appeal.
He said: "Generosity and kindness are great expressions of God’s love to anyone who may feel vulnerable or lonely at this time of year."
The hampers were made up of gifts donated by Tesco, the Co-operative, Waitrose and church members.
