Dozens of little singers from schools across Waltham Forest entertained Christmas shoppers with a free carol concert.

Children’s choirs performed in Santa’s new neon-themed grotto at The Mall Walthamstow, last week.

School pupils took turns sing a selection of traditional Christmas carols and seasonal songs.

Waltham Forest Mayor Terry Wheeler attended the charity choirs fundraising event to show his support to all the performing pupils who took part.

Cllr Wheeler said: “It is lovely to see schools from Chingford, Leyton and Walthamstow coming together keeping up the tradition of carol singing in The Mall.”

Walthamstow schools including The Winns Primary School in Fleeming Road and Greenleaf Primary School in Greenleaf Road were joined by schools from Leyton including Newport Primary and others from around the borough.

The annual fundraising event has taken place at The Mall for several years and traditionally helps raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charities and community groups.

This year money has been raised for X7 Dance School, Bucks For Life, Leyton Orient’s Girls Football Club, Lea Rowing Club and The Young Poet Laureate for London.

The children taking part all received a Mall goody bag for their entertainment efforts.
