A busy road is set to remain partially closed until next year following a car crash at the weekend.

One of two lanes on Roding Lane in Buckhurst Hill has been shut and controlled by temporary traffic lights since Sunday following an incident which saw a car crash into Roding Small Bridge.

The road, which connects Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell, will remain partially closed and see delays until January due to structural damage.

Cabinet member Cllr Rodney Bass said: “Unfortunately, due to damage to Roding Small Bridge caused by a car crash, we have had to close one of the two lanes which pass over it.

“The direction of traffic on the bridge will be controlled by temporary traffic light system until early in the new year.

"This is a step which had to be taken for the safety of drivers but we do apologise for any inconvenience caused and will be pursuing all legal remedies open to us.”
