The man who died in a pile-up on the M25 has been named.

Police have formally identified Bhagwant Singh, 39, from Leicestershire.

Mr Singh was killed between junctions 25 and 26 after four lorries and a car crashed through the central reservation in the early hours of December 9.

Two men, aged 33 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Essex Police bailed the 33-year-old man, also from Leicester, until April pending further enquiries.

Both men were initially treated at Harlow's Princess Alexandra Hospital before being questioned by police.

The 25-year-old has been placed under the care of mental health professionals.

He was taken into custody on December 12 and will now be questioned at a later date.

Chief Inspector Jonathan Baldwin, of Essex Police, described the initial collision as a "catastrophic scene of carnage".

A police spokesman said: “We are waiting to hear if Mr Singh’s family wish to issue a tribute.”

Repairs to the section of the M25 severely damaged in a fatal crash were completed on Tuesday and all lanes are now open.
