The winner of Ongar's festive window display competition was announced on Friday.
D.C Pouton and Sons funeral directors, was selected for its "beautifully simple but highly effective" First World War-themed display.
The certificate was presented by Stanford Rivers Parish Council chairman John Glover and Ongar Town Council chairman Diana Roberts.
Runners-up was Hockings butchers and Koko Kouture received a commendation.
Mr Glover said: “The winning display was beautifully simple but highly effective.
“The Hockings display is a heart-warming scene depicting the local railway.
“I would congratulate all the businesses for helping to make Ongar look special this Christmas.”
