A disabled pensioner says she is struggling to get out of her home due to piles of uncollected rubbish.

Mary Jones, 73, suffers from chronic heart problems, asthma and is riddled with Osteoarthritis from the waist down.

The resident of Antlers Hill in Chingford claims her rubbish has been collected once every six weeks for the last three months.

She claims bags of rubbish outside her front door have been piling up since mid November.

Despite calls to the Waltham Forest council street cleaning services, the rubbish continues to pile up.

The homes in the street are on a steep incline with dozens of steps leading up to the front gate.

Ms Jones says many of the residents leave their rubbish at the bottom for collection on Wednesday mornings, but she lives alone.

Due to her ill health, she is unable to lift heavy items and her disabled rail by the steps has been unstable for six months.

Ms Jones said her complaint was logged with the council after contacting Age Concern Waltham Forest, who told her she was added to the 'assisted collection' list in September.

"They say they will sort it but nothing ever happens," she said.

"I have cried my eyes out over this and cannot take much more.

"They wait for 10 or 12 bags of rubbish to pile up before they take it.

"I watched the Kier truck come around last Wednesday - they went straight past my house.

"It has made me feel depressed and like I don't have a friend in the world."

The council has been contacted for a comment.
