A Parkinson's sufferer has released a Christmas single to raise funds for a charity helping others with the condition.

Bass guitarist Brian Hodgson, 70, of Chingford, wrote 'One More Christmas' with his band Pete Lincoln & Friends last month.

The single, available on iTunes and at Amazon, was released on December 1 with half of the proceeds going to Parkinson's UK.

Mr Hodgson recorded the single with lead guitarist and vocalist Gavin Povey, bass guitarist Pete Lincoln, pianist Gerry Hogan, steel guitarist Bobby Cochran, Gayle Fraser, baritone guitarist Gayle Fraser and backing vocalist Steve Mann.

The former member of 1980s band Matchbox and founder of Albert Lee & Hogan's Heroes was diagnosed with the degenerative disease in 2007.

Mr Hodgson, said: "After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, I have had to restructure my life to some extent and curtail some of my live work.

"I never know how Parkinson’s will affect me from day to day and sometimes from hour to hour.

"I hope that people will enjoy listening to our song and that it will get them into festive mood.

"It’s a traditional Christmas song with all the classic ingredients evoking that warm glow of Christmas past and the innocent spirit of a bygone era."

Director of fundraising at Parkinson's UK, Paul Jackson-Clark, added: "I’d like to say a big thank you to Brian and the band for helping us to raise awareness of Parkinson’s.

"We are incredibly grateful to the band for their support and I hope that music fans will download the single."
