A trusted doctor of 46 years has retired, leaving his practice to his only child.

Dr Mohamed Dadabhoy, 76, set up The Microfaculty in a dilapidated hairdressing salon in Chingford Mount Road in 1975, using a £10,000 loan from a friend which he successfully paid back within two years.

Within six months of having his own surgery, patients numbers rose from 2,900 to 3,600, and he eventually expanded by converting a residential property next door.

He came to Chingford in 1969 and trained alongside Dr Blair and the late Dr Rodney Herbert, at a practice located opposite in 33 Chingford Mount Road.

Now, after 46 years of practising in Chingford and 39 of running The Microfaculty, Dr Dadadhoy has passed the practice to his son Dr Shahid Dadabhoy, who has worked alongside him since 1998.

"I have enjoyed every moment. There was some tough times which involved getting up in the middle of the night.

"My patients pleaded with me not to go but the time has come and my son has got his own fan club.

"I only have one son and I wanted him to takeover before I died or retired," Dr Dadabhoy said.

His 46-year-old son will now run the surgery, which has 4,500 registered patients, alongside two part-time doctors and a trainee.

Dr S M Dadabhoy said he continues his father's legacy of offering personalised care.

He added: "It is an honour and privilege to serve the people of Chingford and carry on the baton for as long as I possibly can.

"He will be sadly missed by all his patients, but I am sure they will see him around."
