CCTV footage has been released of a thief who broke into a van to steal tools using a screwdriver he had just stolen from a DIY shop.
Suspect 166568 is wanted in connection with theft from a motor vehicle at B&Q in Heybridge Way, Leyton, on September 29.
At around 11am, the man walked into the store and stole a Dextro screwdriver worth £5.48.
He then left the store and parked his car behind a white Mercedes van, where he used the stolen tool to break into the van.
He unloaded £2,300 worth of tools into his car from the van and drove off.
CCTV supplied by B&Q shows the suspect entering the store.
The footage has been passed to the Guardian as part of a joint venture with the Metropolitan Police to identify potential perpetrators of unsolved crimes in the borough.
