Three local leisure centres are urging residents to participate in an annual charity swimathon.

Loughton, Ongar and Waltham Abbey Everyone Active Leisure Centres will host the "World's Biggest Swim", which was established in 1986, this Easter.

Challengers taking part in the weekend will raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The centres are offering a range of distances and challenges for the event, in which centres from around the world will compete, with a choice of lengths of 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k.

Everyone Active Contract Manager Kim Bames said: "We are delighted to support the Swimathon again this year.

“People of all ages and abilities can take part and it’s a great opportunity to raise money for charity while enjoying a fantastic workout.

"Marie Curie Cancer Care is a truly worthwhile cause so we’re encouraging as many people as possible to set up a team.”
