A new off-licence could open in a residential street.

Waltham Forest council’s licensing committee is due to consider an application to turn a former upholstery shop into a convenience store next week.

E J Upholstery at 93 Shernhall Street, at the junction with Burns Close, could be turned into a licensed shop serving alcohol between 7am and 11pm all week.

The applicant, Mrs Guler Nacar of Waltham Way in Chingford, has promised to install CCTV and not allow children to be served unaccompanied after 8pm.

She claims she has experience off the licensing objectives set out by the council.

One objection was sent by a neighbour and the licensing department requested 14 conditions to be added to the application, including adding an incident logbook and CCTV signs.

A decision will be made by the committee at the Town Hall next Wednesday.
