The third eatery to open in a multi-million pound Walthamstow development has brought a taste of the Caribbean to the borough.

Music and rum was flowing last night at the official opening of Turtle Bay in The Scene at Cleveland Place.

Residents, councilors and new staff celebrated with live music, food and cocktails.

Around 500 people attended the event at the new restaurant, which is only the second of the franchise to open in London.

Guests were served Jerk Chicken and Blue Mountain Curry Goat, as well as authentic Caribbean cocktails including Reggae Rum Punch and Tobago Tea.

The Caribbean theme runs through the restaurant with pictures and art work paying homage to music legend Bob Marley.

Troy Ellis and the Hail Jamaica Reggae Band performed, attracting attention from passers-by.

Eddie Coyne, general manager at Turtle Bay said: “I was thrilled with the number of people who came down and supported the team.

“The launch event was a perfect way to celebrate our arrival in Walthamstow and we can’t wait to continue the love with the local residents.”

Mr Coyne said the restaurant is the ‘perfect’ place for a family meal or a night out with friends.

Turtle Bay was founded in 2010 and currently has 13 restaurants across the UK.
