Damon Albarn has been nominated for a Brit Award.
The Blur frontman, who recently released an acclaimed solo album featuring songs inspired by his childhood in Leytonstone, has been selected in the Best British Male category.
The 46-year-old lived in Leytonstone until he was nine-years-old and attended George Tomlinson Primary School, in Harrington Road.
He spoke of the influence of Leytonstone in his music at an unveiling of a plaque at his former home in October.
He said: “[Leytonstone's] multi-racial population had a very profound effect on me, and the borough has a very particular feel to it, given the proximity to Epping Forest and places like Hollow Ponds.
“I remember cows coming down this road on a regular basis. You wouldn’t believe it now what with the A12 extension, but memories like that obviously stuck with me.”
The Brit Awards 2015 will take place at London’s O2 Arena on February 25 and will be broadcast live on ITV.
