Two dogs were found weak, neglected and huddled together for warmth near the Walthamstow border.

A female British bulldog and a male Staffordshire bull terrier were discovered near the edge of the River Lea in Tottenham Marshes at around 10pm on January 8.

The bulldog has been named Mo and the staffie, Morris.

It is thought they had been wandering loose, but had stopped and were huddled together during the harsh cold.

By the time they were found, near the Walthamstow Reservoirs, Morris was so weak he struggled to walk.

Passers-by wrapped them in blankets and waited with them on a park bench until the RSPCA arrived to help.

RSPCA Inspector Kate Ford said: “They were such a sad little pair, it broke my heart to see them.

“Thankfully these kind people walked past, found them and cared for them until we arrived to help.

“Both the dogs were so painfully thin, they had clearly just not been cared for. Morris the Staffy could barely walk and I had to carry him to the van and then into the animal hospital.”

Morris is thought to be around 10 and Mo around five.

Anyone with information about the dogs is urged to call 0300 123 8018.

Mo and Morris will need some care before they are able to be rehomed.
