A young campaigner met with Ed Miliband to discuss “ending extreme poverty”.

Billy Hill of Ivy Chimneys in Epping, met with the Labour Party leader alongside youth ambassadors from The ONE Campaign, an international campaigning and advocacy organisation co-founded by Bono, on Friday.

The 21-year-old, who is currently campaigning for an end to extreme poverty, climate change and inequalities, said he wants to “put a stop to people having to live on less than 80p a day”.

He said: the meeting was not the be all end all, it was the start of a journey to end extreme poverty.

“Ed Miliband is a very important person, especially with the upcoming general election.

“We wanted him to see that we are campaigning for an end to extreme poverty and that if he chose to too he would have a lot of support from us.

“At one point Ed said that one of his top priorities was to make sure that by 2030 no one was living in extreme poverty.

“This made my heart sing as it is what we are campaigning for, it made me realise that we were really helping.

“Ed was really receptive to our ideas but we won’t be resting there.

“We’re going to make sure that he, and the Labour Party, keep their commitment to these issues and we’ll be continuing to campaign throughout the year.

“Especially around the United Nations General Assembly in September where new global goals to tackle these issues like extreme poverty and climate change will be announced.”
