Mystery surrounds an overturned car which was discovered in Epping Forest.

The blue Peugoet 206, which has since been removed from the scene, appeared to have crashed through railings off of Golding's Hill in Loughton before landing on its roof at the side of the road.

The East of England Ambulance Trust and Essex Police said they had no report of the incident despite the car being cordoned off with police tape and a 'police aware' sticker being placed on the car's window.

Redsident Mandy Knapp, 53, of Firs Drive in Loughton, said she was shocked when she saw the car at the weekend.

She said: "Nearly every week there is a car overturned there and  this week it was particularly bad.

"I just looked and thought I don't know how anyone could have survived that, how would they get out alive?"
