Two women were injured in the second of two crashes on the same part of a motorway this morning.
A mobile crane had overturned after colliding with a coach at 7.45am on the northbound section of the M11 between junction five for Loughton and junction six, with one lane closed due to a diesel spill.
Five passengers on the coach were not seriously injured.
Just two hours later, four cars collided as they passed the scene of the first accident.
An image from the scene shows the mobile crane turned on its side by the road near three of the four damaged cars.
Paramedics, police and fire rescue teams attended the incident.
A woman in her 60s was treated for neck pain and a woman in her 30s was treated for head injuries and shoulder pain at the scene.
Both were transferred to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow for further treatment.
Three of the four cars have been removed from the scene.
The road remains closed and the Highway's Agency said severe delays are expected until 2.30pm.
