Schoolchildren of all ages have taken part in sponsored run to raise money for a running club.

The one to two-mile run through St James Park, Walthamstow, saw 40 children from the Alice Rose running club at Coppermill Primary School in Edward Road, Walthamstow, take part.

The club which has been going for three years, was officially named after former pupil Alice Rose Carrey, in November.

Alice Rose died of an immune disorder in 2009 and the club was set up in memory of her by her parents and teaching assistant Karen Reed.

The funds raised through the club's first-ever sponsored run will pay for running club t-shirts.

Any additional money raised will go towards Great Ormond Street Hospital where Alice was treated.
