A pedestrian killed a week ago in Walthamstow died of multiple injuries, a post mortem has revealed. 

The man, believed to be in his late 50s or early 60s, was hit by a car in Forest Road at the junction with Bell Corner, on January 22. 

Emergency services were called to the scene at 22.20pm and he was taken to Royal London Hospital, where he later died. 

Police say "enquiries are underway to identify the man and next of kin are yet to be informed". 

A post-mortem held on Tuesday at Whipps Cross Hospital Mortuary gave his cause of death as multiple injuries.  

The 21-year-old driver of a black Mercedes C-Class, stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. 

He has since been bailed until a date in March.
