Loughton's council tax precept has been frozen for the sixth consecutive year.

The town council announced yesterday that it will not increase its precept of £587,100 following a budget meeting

Council tax has been frozen at £49.18 for a band D household since 2009.

Chairman of the resources and general services committee, Councillor Stephen Pewsey, said: “The town council has not increased its precept for five successive years, and I’m delighted that we’ll be able to keep the precept unchanged again in 2015-16.

"By focussing resources on our public-facing activities and through careful management of reserves, our many responsibilities still come at a bargain price without losing any of the quality of service Loughton residents have come to expect.”
