Three people arrested after police foiled a bank raid have appeared in court.

Officers were called to Santander in Walthamstow High Street at 3.15am last Sunday to reports of an armed group damaging windows and doors.

Four people were arrested nearby.

A getaway car was also seized, according to a witness.

Last week, some of those accused appeared at Thames Magistrates Court.

Isaac Donovan, 28, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody and will next appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on February 5.

Daniel Farrugia, 24, of Rettington Way in Chingford, will also appear in court on the same day, but was released on conditional bail.

A 20-year-old woman was also arrested and bailed.

A spokesman for Santander confirmed they were assisting police inquiries into the incident, but added that no customer money had been taken from the branch.

No counter service was given at the bank the next day but service has returned to normal.

An eyewitness said that around 20 police officers, some with dogs, attended the attempted robbery.
