Three roads are facing major disruption next month during planned water mains work.

Landview Gardens and Stondon Road in Ongar will both be closed under the plans which were announced in a public notice from Essex County Council last week.

Nearby School Road in Stanford Rivers is also set for temporary closure to allow supplier Affinity Water to undertake water main replacement works.

The closures are schedules to remain for two weeks each, although the council can extend this period to a potential 18 months.

The council has said access for pedestrians and emergency service vehicles will be maintained during the closures, but it has so far failed to outline any provisions for people driving to and from their homes.

A spokeswoman for Affinity Water said that driver access would be maintained “wherever possible”, but the entire length of residential Landview Gardens is scheduled to close.

Water supply will also be hit during the works, which aim to minimise future leaks and bursts, but Affinity has said it will notify people 48 hours before any cut to the supply.

The full closure details are as follows:

  • Landview Gardens: 9 February
  • School Road between Old Rectory Road and Berwick Lane: 16 February
  • Stondon Road between Brentwood Road and Mill Lane: 3 March
