Professionals from the food and design industries met with school pupils last week to teach new skills and techniques.
Students from West Hatch High School in Chigwell met the professionals last Thursday as they celebrated annual Business and Enterprise Day.
Greenwich-based fashion designer Emma Nissim, who specialises in “sustainable” fashion, met with Design and Technology pupils to manufacture bags that were printed with the school logo and then sold.
Pupils in Resistant Materials, which is similar to woodwork, took part in an “upcycling” activity, where old and second-hand products are renovated and transformed into a new product.
Food Technology students met Graham Holmes, a food and beverage manager at David Lloyd health club who taught the pupils cooking techniques to create fruit tartlets with crème patisserie and spun sugar.
West Hatch is a specialist business and enterprise school which aims to integrate aspects of both into everyday learning.
