A group of students in their final year of studies are working hard to achieve the best possible grades after being made offers by the UK's top two universities.

The ten A level students at Bancroft’s School, in High Road, Woodford Green, could be on the road to becoming tomorrow's leading lawyers, engineers and scientists this summer after being offered places at both Oxford and Cambridge.

Between them, the students hope to specialise in philosophy, economics, maths, engineering, architecture and physics.

Headteacher Mary Ireland, said: "We are delighted that the hard work and dedication that these students have shown over a number of years has been so richly rewarded.

"These students have performed exceptionally well and the competition for these prestigious offers gets tougher every year.

"They are not just up against the best in this country, but also the best in the world. We wish them all every success for the future."

According to The Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings, Cambridge and Oxford are among a group of six elite universities touted as the 'globally recognised super brands'.

The four others include Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of California, Berkeley, and Stanford University.
