A secondary school choir has been named the winner in two categories at a music festival.
The Modality Youth Choir, which features students from West Hatch in Chigwell, Trinity Catholic in Woodford, Chingford Foundation in Chingford and Woodbridge in Woodford, came first place in the youth and amateur choir sections of the Stratford and East London Music Festival last week.
The choir, which were accompanied by Christian musician Matt Lowrie on piano, was awarded with the highest marks of the festival during the youth choir category and was marked as ‘outstanding’.
Director of the choir and singing teacher at West Hatch, Jenny Ewington said: “The girls sounded really professional and performed with confidence and poise.”
