Three ambulance stations are set to receive new state-of-the-art ambulances as part of a fleet replacement programme.
Loughton, Ongar and Waltham Abbey are three of 43 stations that will be receiving the East of England Ambulance Service Mercedes vehicles in a bid to improve standards in patient care.
The replacement aims to see no emergency ambulance in Essex older than five years by March 2015.
Trust Chief Executive Anthony Marsh said: "Our ageing fleet was a real concern amongst staff when I joined EEAST last year, but to see a new fleet under five years old with new equipment on board by the end of March is an excellent achievement.
“These new emergency ambulances will be more reliable and provide a better experience for patients and crews."
