More than 25 organisations have been awarded a share of a £35,000 council grant.

Loughton Town Council selected 28 local organisations in the town to receive a sum following a Resources and General Services Committee meeting.

The largest grant was given to Epping Forest Citizens Advice Bureau, which received £8,000.

Loughton Youth Project in Trapps Hill, Loughton, received the second largest with a grant of £4,500 for their work to support and inspire 11 to 24-year-olds in the area.

Town Mayor, Cllr Sharon Weston, will present the successful organisations with a certificate at a meeting on the 18 March.

Committee chairman Cllr Stephen Pewsey said: "I commend the work and contributions of all the local voluntary organisations.

"Particularly the vital services provided by Epping Forest Citizens Advice Bureau, which provides free independent advice to help people resolve their legal, money and other problems, and the Restore Community Centre in the Loughton Broadway that provides a drop in shop that strives to improve the lives of the local community."
