A hospital trust is calling for owners of dogs to sign up their pets to be used for therapy.

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University trust (BHRUT) and charity Pets as Therapy (PAT) are looking for volunteers to sign up their pet dogs.

The dogs will be used to bring joy and companionship to patients at King George hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s hospital in Romford who appreciate being able to touch and stroke a friendly animal.

All breeds can become a PAT dog, but they must have been with their owner for at least six months, be over nine months of age and pass the temperament assessment.

The dogs will be expected for regular visits to the hospitals, although the volunteer agrees how much time and a small annual subscription is payable.
