A driver was yesterday found guilty of causing the death by dangerous driving of two of his friends in a crash in 2013.

Amit Yadav, 24, of Woodford Avenue, Gants Hill, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court where he denied two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was driving over the speed limit when he span out of control and crashed into an oncoming car on August 10, 2013.

Haider Kayani, 20, and brother Taimur, 17, both of Windsor Road in Wanstead, were in Yadav's car at the time of the crash in Lodge Avenue, Dagenham.

Taimur, who was travelling in the front passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Haider died later in hospital.

The driver of the other car suffered bladder injuries and required surgery to remove part of her damaged intestine.

In a statement a month after the incident, Yadav said he had been driving normally and tried to take evasive action when he saw another car driving at speed.

This was rejected yesterday in court.

The father of the dead brithers, Qamar Kayani, paid tribute to his sons, saying they “would do anything for anybody”.

Haider was described as a gentle giant and a naturally gifted sportsman, while Taimur was a keen sudent at Sir George Monoux College in Walthamstow who wanted to go on to study law or become a police officer.

Around 1,500 people attended their funeral, coming from as far away as South Africa and Pakistan.

Yadav was found guilty on all three counts.

He was released on unconditional bail until his sentencing on April 10 at the same court.
