An annual event celebrating the achievements of women is being marked with a week-long of activities in Waltham Forest.  

Under this year's theme of 'Make it Happen', International Women's Day on March 8 will start with an all-female cycle training session at Chingford Memorial Park in Chingford Mount Road, on March 3 from 1pm to 3pm. 

A similar cycling event is organised for 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm on March 7 at Walthamstow Leisure Centre in Markhouse Road.  

Walthamstow School for Girls in Church Hill, will host its very own hour-long question time from 7pm with panellists London Assembly member Jennette Arnold, temporary borough commander for Waltham Forest Chief Superintendent Jacqueline Sabire, anti-FGM campaigner and victim Hibo Wardere and Chingford GP Tonia Myers, among others.  

A scrutiny meeting is scheduled for the Town Hall in Forest Road, Walthamstow, on March 4 which will focus on women's participation in sport, and on March 6, The Paradox Centre in Ching Way, Chingford, will host a seminar on specialist domestic abuse and sexual violence support services. 

The event will consists of key note speakers, workshops, information stalls and an opportunity to network.​

Free sporting activities on a first-come, first-serve basis including trampolining, karate, netball, badminton and Tai Chi are on offer at Walthamstow Leisure Centre from 9am to 2pm on March 8. 

Hundreds of women and children are expected to gather in the Assembly Hall on International Women's Day for the annual all-day event aimed at championing the achievements of women in the borough. 

Guests will hear from inspirational speakers, take part in interactive workshops, and watch a fashion show.
