Two men arrested after a taxi was stolen with a dog inside have been bailed by police.

A privately owned black taxi was stolen on February 23 after it was left in Grove Green Road, Leyton at around 8pm.

The victim left the engine running and Harry her much-loved 12-year-old dog, a Pomerian- Staffordshire cross, inside.

The dog was located by police in North Birkbeck Road, Leytonstone.

After an area search the cab was seen driving in nearby Millais Road.

Two occupants fled the taxi.

Two men, aged 40 and 31 were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and are bailed to an east London police station to a date at the beginning of April.
