Four roads are closed this morning following accidents on sheet ice.
In Loughton, Ranger's Road was closed at the junction with Epping New Road at around 7am after an accident was reported in icy conditions.
Sewardstone Road in Waltham Abbey has also been closed this morning between the A121 and Avey Lane following an accident.
An ambulance attended the scene at 6.39am and a man in his 50s has been taken to Whipps Cross for further treatment.
Essex County Council said the ice had been caused by a burst water main.
A third accident is being attended by the ambulance service this morning in the Crooked Mile, Waltham Abbey.
Two people were treated following a crash that was also blamed on black ice, but were described as "walking wounded".
Honey Lane in Waltham Abbey is also reported to be closed after a two vehicle accident, although it is not yet known if it was caused by ice.
