An artist’s impression of a new primary school has been released, ahead of its opening in September.

Walthamstow Primary Academy, which is currently under construction in Billet Road, will include a library, a research centre and a learning suite equipped for science, art and food technology.

The school will also offer dedicated resources for children with special educational needs.

Outside spaces will include a garden, a nature area, an all-weather sports area and covered play areas.

Last month the Department for Education announced the Secretary of State for Education had agreed to enter into a funding agreement with the school’s sponsor, United Learning.

A total of 60 reception pupils will start at the school this year and will be placed in temporary classrooms while construction is completed.

Headteacher Stephanie Thomas said: “It is brilliant to have received full approval to open in September – which has been achieved far earlier than for many new schools – and to have unveiled our building.

“Its facilities and generous resourcing will be key in helping our children to learn without limits and will be an important resource for Walthamstow families and the community, from next March and in the long-term.”
