Children watched as chicks hatched at a school last week.
Two reception classes have been looking after ten eggs in the last two weeks at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School, in Chestnut Drive, Wanstead.
Children are recording the growth of the chicks, who hatched in an incubator throughout Wednesday and Thursday, as part of the New Life topic.
Alison Hawkes, early year’s coordinator at the school, said: “The children make observations on what the chicks look like when they come out of their shells and as they grow in the coming weeks.
“They had the chance to hold them if they wanted to.
“It is great because it is hands-on learning for the kids and many of them would not have seen anything like this before.”
