A man accused of causing criminal damage and intimidating a shop worker will stand trial later this year.
Michael Oladunni, Hoe Street, Walthamstow, appeared at Thames Magistrates Court today (March 2) charged with criminal damage and using threatening, abusive behaviour towards Andrew Hinds at JD Sports in Selbourne Walk, Walthamstow.
The 27-year-old denies both offences which allegedly took place at the sportswear shop on February 13.
Oladunni had visited JD Sports to return a pair of trainers he claimed to have bought the day before, but was told by Mr Hinds he could not a get a refund without a receipt.
Prosecutor Joyce Kerrins, said: "He was told he could get store credit or an exchange.
"This angered him, by which point, he leapt onto the store counter causing Mr Hind to jump back in fear.
"By jumping on the counter, he destroyed a digital till display and caused Mr Hind to believe immediate violence would be used against him."
Oladunni told the court, "he could not remember what happened" and denied visiting JD Sports.
He has been banned from visiting JD Sports as part of his bail conditions and will stand trial at Stratford Magistrates Court on May 7.
