World Book Day was celebrated by for the second day running today (March 6) at a primary school.

Upshire Primary Foundation School in Upshire Road had kids dressed up as the Tin Man, Snow White and Dennis the Menace with the Deputy Head getting in on the act as Cruella Deville.

Pupils swapped activities throughout the day as a Harry Potter themed class made potions, cartoon strips of The Wizard of Oz and wrote poetry.

Teacher Nicole Ward said: “You always get someone coming dressed as a video game character, which is not supposed to happen because we should be promoting reading.

"But the kids absolutely love it.”
