A teenager is hoping to be the next Naomi Campbell after making it to the final of one of the biggest model-hunting competitions in the UK.

Walthamstow College student Janete Nogueira, 19, beat competition from thousands of women across the country to make it to the Top Model UK finals, taking place later this month.

Miss Nogueira is currently studying to be a neonatal nurse, alongside her endeavours to make it in the modelling industry.

The former Miss Motors Africa winner is looking to break into the industry after the competition.

“From an early age I have always wanted to become a model,” she said.

“Taking part in this competition will open many doors for me and give me so many opportunities in the industry.

“I have battled to get to where I am now, and I want to show the world that we should never give up on something we truly love, as nothing is impossible.”

Top Model organisers say it differs from other competitions as it is not a pageant, but a search for young women hoping to break into the industry.

Miss Nogueira of Valognes Avenue applied for the competition before going through a selection process in which she was cast for the finals.

Later this year Miss Nogueria will travel to Italy to compete in the 'Miss Motors International' pageant.

The final of Top Model UK will be held on March 13 at the Hilton London Metropole.

The grand finalist selections and the eventual awards are all decided by industry experts, not by public voting, with the finalists walking in a professionally produced runway show finals.
