A historic railway will be hosting an extended five mile Easter Egg Hunt next month.

The hunt, which is the length of 131,579 eggs laid end to end, will take in sights along the length of the Epping Ongar Railway from Ongar through to Coopersale, on Easter weekend (April 3-6).

Bertie the Easter Bunny will be helping children find the eggs on, what a railway spokesman claims to be, the longest Easter Egg hunt in Essex.

Every child who finds all of the rabbit's eggs will receive an egg for themselves. and after there will be a disco for children where they can dance with Bertie or get their face painted.

Bertie Bunny, Head of Eggs and Easter, said: “Last year it took me ages to hide the eggs but with the extension of the hunt to Coopersale and over 5 miles of track to run up and down it's going to take me even longer. If the railway ever gets into Epping I'm not sure how I'll manage!”
